After several years in the professional world, I decided to take a reset step to challenge myself in an international environment. My heart led me to Kaohsiung, and specifically to the IBMBA program at National Sun Yat-sen University, where the proximity to nature offers a unique sense of peace. Now, after completing my first semester, I can say it has been a deeply rewarding journey of self-reflection and growth.
What has truly defined my experience so far is the exceptional quality of the faculty. I’ve found that the professors here are not just lecturers, but true mentors. Most of them are local experts, yet they possess an incredible wealth of international experience, diverse life stories, and profound professional insights. I’ve had numerous opportunities to engage with my professors outside of formal class hours. Their enthusiasm in guiding me, answering my complex questions, and sharing their own career wisdom has been invaluable. As someone returning to school from the corporate world, I find their practical yet visionary teaching style to be exactly what I needed to bridge the gap between my past experience and future goals.
I was drawn to Kaohsiung specifically because I wanted to be close to nature, and NSYSU offered the perfect sanctuary for that. There is something profoundly grounding about studying in a campus 'sandwiched' between the mountains and the sea. Of course, life at NSYSU wouldn't be complete without mentioning the macaques. While I’ve learned that they aren’t exactly the friendliest classmates, they add a layer of humor and uniqueness to campus life that you simply won’t find anywhere else. It’s these small, adventurous moments that make studying here so memorable.
Reflecting on the past semester, this experience has given me much more than just academic knowledge, but also a space to rethink my career and life direction. I am filled with anticipation for the coming semesters, knowing I am supported by such a dedicated community and an environment that keeps me grounded and inspired.
