A Transformative Journey: My IBMBA Experience at NSYSU
Pursuing a master’s degree is not just about academic growth—it’s about discovering new perspectives, building meaningful relationships, and equipping yourself for a global career. That’s exactly what I found in the International Business MBA (IBMBA) program at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU).
Coming from a background that blends languages and business, I was drawn to the IBMBA for its international focus and dual degree opportunity in France—a country I’ve long dreamed of living in. My academic journey began in a five-year junior college where I studied French, followed by a bachelor’s degree in finance. The IBMBA was the perfect bridge between my linguistic passion and business acumen, offering a fully English-speaking environment that fosters cross-cultural exchange.
One of the most impactful experiences in the program was the International Business course. Our team was assigned to promote a local store in Qijin, and through strategic planning and collaboration, we successfully attracted more foreign visitors. It was incredibly fulfilling to apply classroom knowledge to a real-world scenario. In parallel, the Statistics course introduced us to SPSS, a powerful tool that enhanced our ability to analyze data—a skill that now underpins our thesis work. This semester, Academic Writing and Research Methodology are providing the foundational skills needed to craft a high-quality, well-organized master’s thesis.
Beyond the classroom, the IBMBA program at NSYSU offers rich opportunities for personal and professional development. From dual degree information sessions to resume consultations with alumni through the College of Management’s “Resume Diagnosis” service, the support here is hands-on and practical. These experiences have not only prepared me for my second year abroad but also strengthened my confidence in navigating global career pathways.
Through it all, I’ve come to realize that the most vital skills for success in the program—and beyond—are adaptability, communication, and open-mindedness. With classmates from around the world, effective communication and cultural sensitivity are essential for collaboration.
