《114-1 SA Event》By-The-Wave: Sea You There!

The Student Association of International Programs held “By-The-Wave — Sea You There at Siziwan” on Oct 15th at the NSYSU Sizihwan Marine Center, bringing students together for an afternoon of paddling, beach fun, and delicious meals by the sea.

Water activities at Sizihwan are one of NSYSU’s special traditions. Both stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking are part of the university’s official courses, and the instructors treated this event like a short and friendly lesson. Students first gathered at the marine center to change into their gear and put on life jackets. After a quick demonstration, instructors showed how to use the paddles and boards safely, while Vice President Sam helped translate and explain everything clearly for both local and international students.

Safety was the top priority. Four professional lifeguards were on duty, and a motorized rescue kayak stayed nearby to make sure everyone could play safely and confidently. In a secured environment, students relaxed and truly enjoyed their time on the water.

A photography team joined the group on a motorized kayak, capturing the experience from the sea. Their photos didn’t just show splashing water — they also showed the beautiful campus scenery where the mountains meet the ocean, and the smiles and laughter shared by everyone throughout the day.

Students took turns trying both SUP and kayaking, helping each other launch, balance, and paddle. During breaks, some even brought a volleyball, starting casual games on the beach that made everyone more involved and active. These simple, cheerful moments — cheering for a teammate or helping someone back on their board — brought people closer and made the day feel friendly and relaxed.

To wrap up the day, everyone sat together on the sand and enjoyed delicious bento boxes, chatting and sharing their favorite moments from the event. It was the perfect ending — good food, laughter, and a calm seaside view. The Student Association thanked the NSYSU Marine Center staff, lifeguards, instructors, and the photography team for their support. By-The-Wave once again showed how NSYSU’s marine activities bring students together — through learning, teamwork, and play. The SA looks forward to more events that combine nature, friendship, and the spirit of the sea.
