Mr. Ken Yang, CEO of TenArashi International

Mr. Yang shared his interesting ideas and works in E-Payment industries. He started from the marketing strategy of LINE with collaboration between LINE Pay and Banks to promote campaigns on E-payment. We all are familiar with Cashback and transaction fees’ promotion. This is one of the main strategies implemented in real E-Payment business. Interest rate is another strategy to attract the older generation to use E-payment which commonly used by younger generation.

The guest speaker presented the content of Mobile & E-Payment in Taiwan and got a photo shoot with our students in IB613: E-Commerce class

He also delivered the ideas of real application in the e-payment business such as the different marketing strategies of LINE Pay and JKO. Different company’s characteristics target different customer segments. LINE Pay has more market share and strong customer bases thus it can attract the big brand to collaborate with. But JKO is more merchant-friendly for the small and medium companies. Therefore, each platform has their own strength and market segments. This really represented the realistic knowledge of marketing. Lastly, Mr. Yang gave the case study of pandemic effects toward E-Payment in Taiwan. While a pandemic happens in Taiwan, Taiwanese government tries to encourage the consumers to use mobile payment instead. The reason is for reducing the social contact between people. This policy and promotion caused the number of E-Payment users significantly increased over the year. Local government regulation is a huge influence on business. Students should consider both internal and external factors of business as this pandemic case.

Thank you for Mr. Yang’s great speech and contribution to our students and Professor Kim to invite the real businessman from modern industry as E-Payment. Students have learned a lot from his insightful talk and he was very enthusiastic to answer all student’s questions. They were enjoyable with learning from practitioners and look forward to participating in an interesting speech again.
