Baptiste
Coming from France, I embarked on the IBMBA program seeking a new adventure, both personally and professionally. I wanted to challenge myself in a completely different environment, immerse in a new culture, and explore perspectives on global business. Taiwan has offered all of that and much more.
My name is Baptiste Lecouve, and I am a graduate master’s student IBMBA from National Sun Yat-sen University. The IBMBA program at NSYSU has exceeded my expectations in every way. The academic curriculum strikes an ideal balance between theory and practice, offering in-depth knowledge in international business while encouraging students to think critically and act globally. The faculty’s expertise, cultural diversity, and the program's global orientation have greatly enriched my academic journey.
Beyond the classroom, my experience in Taiwan has been truly transformative. I’ve made lifelong friends, met incredibly kind people from all over the world, and discovered a culture that values community, humility, and sustainability. The environment in Kaohsiung is dynamic, friendly, and rich in natural beauty that made my time here not only educational but also deeply enjoyable.
One of the most meaningful parts of my journey was co-leading Blue Impact with my friend Elliot Armand, a student-led environmental initiative aiming to raise awareness about marine plastic pollution in Kaohsiung. As project manager, I oversaw the full cycle of activities, from designing interactive educational workshops to organizing beach clean-ups in Kaohsiung. We built strong partnerships with local businesses and university departments, empowering students to take real action in their community. This project was not only an opportunity to make a tangible environmental impact but also a chance to build leadership skills and foster civic engagement among peers.
My time in Taiwan also allowed me to embrace the local spirit through sport. I joined the NSYSU International Dragon Boat team, an incredible cultural and physical experience. Training with both international and Taiwanese students taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, values that transcend cultural boundaries and are just as crucial in business as they are on the water.
Looking back, joining the IBMBA program at NSYSU has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. It has not only strengthened my academic and professional capabilities but also shaped me as a more open-minded, environmentally aware, and globally conscious individual.
I wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone looking for a truly international education, a vibrant student life, and the chance to grow on both personal and professional levels.
